I am in the process of probably trading for my buddies 300ec . I turned him on to gg a few years ago .I still own an 01 + 09 . I have the bike in my possession I have heard a pretty loud knocking in the bottom end , it changes slightly when clutch is pulled in . I took complete assembly apart today and did not see anything strange. Bike only has 36 easy hours my buddy says its knocked since he got it . This isn't a pv rattle this is a knock. Any ideas ??????
Thanks for any help

If it changes when the clutch is pulled in, probably gear roll over noise.
Try a heavier weight oil in the transmission.

Myself and 5 other riding mates have 2018 EC300?s that were experiencing a violently audible engine knock.

Problem was too higher comp ratio for our fuels.

All knocking was rectified in all engines with cylinder head modification by adding some volume.

All bikes start easier, run cooler and have far superior power delivery.

Not saying this is your problem, but worth a look!

And double check the ignition rotor bolt. Mine was drowned in loctite but not tight against the flywheel. I was getting a knock on/off throttle. But the magic was the head work Nocams described.

try

Thanks .
Im going to put atf in the bottom end as I always use that successfully and I will run 100 octane and check the stator . Supposed to go out today, i'll see how it acts .

Due to a gear box problem I tried almost all well known oils available and I can assure you that you will not find anything that is thinner than ATF, except water.
If you think this oil will reduce knocking that comes from the gearbox, you are in the wrong box.

A much better idea is the use of 100 octane or race gas just to see if it reduces the knocking. I had three (and still have one) 2018 and 2019 Gassers and they all were knocking pretty loud. Never found out what it is but I believe it comes from the clutch.

Please let us know if something changed with the 100 octane fuel.

gone

So, put bike back together . threw the impact on the stator for a second it moved a little . Put atf in . Mixed about a gallon of 110 in with gas that was in it
No more knock ,,,,,,,, Don't know what the cure was and don't care to search it out, now that its gone . If I come across the answer I'll post it .
Thanks for the input guys
Rode 2 hrs and really like the bike, believe I like the sherco engine a little better , but i'm a gasgas guy so it might end up as mine .

You can also retard the ignition timing by rotating the stator pate in the same direction as the engine flywheel rotates.

While this was easy on the old bikes. This is not an easy solution on the new bikes.
