250 to 300

Men,

I have a 2012 EC250R and was wondering if a 300 cylinder/rod/piston/head will fit on my bottom end? It's time to split the case for a complete rebuild. I ride Arizona single track, moto some and have raced 2 out of the last 3 years in the Idaho City 100.

What advantages if any is the 300 in your opinions? I did swap frames about a year ago and found a 300 frame from GoFasters. My 250 frame broke in three places.

Running Metamucil in the CamelBak,

Jim

The 300 is a bit easier to ride as you can ride it a gear higher and lug the engine. The 250 and 300 share the same bottom ends. The CDI is different and you can run the 250CDI on a 300 but the 250 CDI is more aggressive advance curve than the 300 CDI.

I thought I'd had a look and the cdi part number was static for quite a range.

Thanks Zman. That's the info I was looking for. The 250 CDI on the 300 jug might just be the combination I'm looking for.

Sorry bad choice of words. When I was looking into whether I was up the a cdi I thought I'd seen same part number for 250 and 300 for years and years. I've lost the bit of paper so would take research of parts books again to confirm..
