3 Gassers visit Gifford Pinchot

My brother (HRR) and I, along with my 18 year old son, decided to head up to Gifford Pinchot for our very first trip to the notorious NW jewel. Gifford has a huge reputation up here in the NW as a pristine riding area with spectacular scenery. It does seem odd to be able to ride in such an amazingly beautiful Nat. forest.

We arrived around 10:30 at Blue Lake staging area and unloaded the 3 Gassers to head up toward Hamilton Butte. Liv2day had given us a nice route to follow. There was no warm up as we hit 271 for a long climb up to Blue Lake. Pretty rocky, but not too bad. Arrived at Blue Lake which is very beautiful.

Great day riding with my son whose become a really good woods rider:

We then headed up toward 276 Yozoo. Rocky singletrack with a decent slope on your left. Not too trecherous, but some steep country. Got to the top to find this view:

Absolutely stunning up here!

Beginning of Yozoo:

Rode up toward Hamiliton Butte and back down through some very fun flowing singletrack to staging area for some lunch. Hit another 14 miles of pristine singletrack in the woods where you could really rip. Very fun:cool:

Great day with my brother and son riding. My son rode awesome all day and had no problems climbing up rocky singletrack. All 3 Gassers did awesome. We only ran into 2 other bikes all day and wouldn't you know it they were Gasgas! An older couple on EC300's! We stopped and chatted a bit and remarked how it might be the first time 5 Gasgas were all stopped on the trail up here:D It would have made a great Gasgas commercial: You meet the nicest people when riding your Gasgas :D

Both my son's and my EC200's performed flawlessly and I am so impressed with these little bikes. Perfect amount of grunt and snap and light weight combined with good stability. Great combination for NW riding.

Thanks to Liv2day for a great route.

That's awesome man, so glad you guys had a good day out there. I'm envious; the only thing I looked at all day was cubeville...lol. I did watch dessert's video from riding in CO - reminded me of what hitting Bishop Ridge is like :D

It's so frickin' cool that you're out riding with your boy; I can't tell you how much I look forward to doing the same thing with my boys when they're old enough (and hope they take to riding like I did).

Yozoo is an awesome trail; I know that section of 271 up to Blue Lake isn't exactly the easiest thing to start the day with...lol. Did you guys drop back to staging on 119? That's a fun trail too - we did that going up on our last day.

There's a ton of stuff to explore to the west too; Boundary Trail is awesome for the first 25ish miles.

Thanks for the pics - brings back good memories from a month ago. Next time, I'll see about playing hooky and going with you!

Yep. Definitely blessed to have such cool riding here in the NW.

Riding with my boys is the best! My oldest is getting too fast though. He's pushing his old man:D

Gassers visit Gifford Pinchot

My wife and I were equally surprised to see 3 Gassers on the Gifford Pinchot trails this past Tuesday. Our first visit as well, and met no other riders. What are the odds of that? :)

Regards,
Prentice

Very cool you ride with your son. My dad and I rode horses together and it's something I will never forget, but I can't get my kids interested. All but the little one does not care to ride. Well i've got one more on the way so maybe to two youngest will be my riding partners soon?
