45mm shivers no adjustments??

One thing here confuses me. You say you have now put in 7.5w oil, to a height of 90mm. Earlier in this thread you had done a strip down and put in 10w oil to a height of 130(or something). Those 2 variables alone could make a huge difference. I have found 7.5 to be a good oil in these forks. Filled to 90mm sounds a bit high to me, it will work fine but may feel pretty firm near the end of the travel.
What I'm thinking is that maybe the original level of 130mm was too low, and the ring thing is just a wild goose chase:confused:

I can understand where you are coming from.

The reason i put the 7.5 at 90mm is because when i originally bought the forks that is this viscosity and height i used. So i basically put everything back to original. The two teardowns after this i continued with the same.

It was only when i started to get problems with lack of feeling and no adjustments that i tried a higher viscosity with a larger air gap.

Have you fitted them yet ? If so how much difference have they made?

Going to chase mine up tomorrow Give GG uk a kick up the butt.

the old piston rings seems ok (no shiny spots) but I change they anyway

the forks has more rebound but also before but I changed many thinks

try this rebound arrangement

my Float only 1,0mm
15 x 0,1
15 x 0,2
15 x 0,3
15 x 0,3
18 x 0,1
22 x 0,15
Piston
22 x 0,1
22 x 0,1
19 x 0,1
19 x 0,1
17 x 0,1
17 x 0,1
15 x 0,1
13 x 0,1

rebound srew 12 cllicks open from full close

a air gap of 110mm little bit to much for me on cross track

Hi daren where are you?, i need info i have the same problem and i want to know if your solution resolve the problem

I am in England, My opinion is the new rebound piston rings have made a definite improvement.

If you have the same symptoms as i had ( lack of feel, bouncy, no difference on adjustments ) i would change the rebound piston rings.

Please note that other factors could also cause this but untill you strip down you will not know.

If all is in order in your forks I would replace the piston rings. And then i would be inclined to look at some of Klausens posts and mirror his shim stacks, although you need to know what you want your bike to do, there are many changes you can make but they may not suit you, or your riding style.

If anything you are in the right place to ask for help, I am a mere novice and there are much more experienced people in this forum who can make better judjments.

Hope you get sorted.
