It looks like I have a counter shaft seal leaking. I'm going to tear into it today and was hoping that someone could give some input on KTM parts that will fit this Gasser. Or other companies that fit.

I have downloaded a shop manual for this bike, but it's not very detailed.

I have looked at interchange list, and didn't see this seal on the list.

You need to get the seal, 2 o-rings and the spacer thing (dont know what they call it) replace ALL of ti or it will start leaking in no time. I would just call Halls cycle not worth trying to get this part here and that part over there.

I'll give them a call today or tomorrow, I plan to replace all with new when I can.

Right now, it seems I found a fix. I have an extra motor that came with the big. It is split and torn down completely, I was able to pull the seal, o'rings and spacer from it. All were in good shape, so scares or splits and wasn't dry rotten. So I put them in and was a good fix for NOW, plan to replace new.

This is why I love this site. Some items are good to interchange and others are just a phone call away from Hall's. I just don't know what items are that way and which ones need to be GG items.

Thanks

Wow, didn't expect $77 for the seal, o'rings and spacer. I was thinking maybe $40.......

I looked up the parts from an exploded parts list for a 2000 bike (nothing online for the 1999 EC models). Seal is 30 x 40 x 7mm, O-rings are 25mm OD x 2mm cross section - NBR rubber type. Get the seals and O-rings from an industrial supply house (likely less than $10), and just buy the spacer from a GG dealer.

Found the parts book here: http://www.gasgasmotos.es/en/manuals/6.html

I'll have to look into a local supply house for the seals and o-rings.

The spacer is the expensive part, at $35 just for it. I'll look and see what I can find locally. I don't mind paying if I have to, just didn't expect $70+ for this item alone. Makes me wonder about future issues I might come across....:(

I have had good luck with cleaning the grooved spacers with fine sand paper. You can also drive the seal in a little less deep than the original so the new seal lands outside the original grooves. Worst case you replace the spacer later.

I'll have to try that. I have two spacers, the one that I just put in seems to be holding. No oil leaks as of yet, and I rode a bit yesterday.

I might just need to order new seal and o-rings and go from there for the next change.
