Hello gassers, great site, great bikes...looking for some help to get my 1999 ec250 running from no spark condition. She's stranded out on the trail now so any help will be greatly appreciated and I will follow this thread to its completion.
Quick Recap:
bike died during a mid rpm hill climb; absolutely no problems previously...fresh "300" rebuild, great runner...
No spark at plug or wire, coil primary and secondary resistance good, stator resistances both good, not open to ground. CDI has around 100k Ohms from kill to ground but I don't know what else to check there.
I'm looking for advice on how to rule out faulty CDI vs bad stator. Tried fresh plug/wires...disconnected kill at cdi...inspecetd all wiring, looks fine and this is the bare bones version...no lights/regulator, very simple wiring really. Cleaned connectors for insurance.
How can I test stator output values? What should I get for voltage there?
Any additional tests for CDI, or can I have it bench tested somewhere?
Anyone have a compatible CDI to sell/loan; I'm in Colorado?
Thanks in advance, eager to get her out of the woods.
Cheers!
