aftermarket wheels fitment?

The rear wheel on my 09 KTM measures 157mm from inside rotor face to inside sprocket face, so its too wide :(

Back in the old days,, on the smackover forum,, We had this discussion and somebody sold wheel spacers to make jap wheels fit.. I think from a 96 cr250 this was for the older GG bikes with the wp forks. 20mm axle I believe. motowest maybe? might have been the kx/kdx, but rather sure they were honda wheels.. but then back then you could buy a set of SM wheels for your Gasgas for under a grand..

Honda used the 20mm rear axle from the late 80's to 99. I think it was the late 90's the wheel kits were from.. but then again.. this was back in like 01..

FYI, late model Husky rear wheel (WR250, TE450, etc.)

rotor to sprocket surface - 152mm
axel OD - 25mm

We all should bug Mark at Gofasters, to get with the factory and get us some spare wheels "AT A REASONABLE PRICE" even if we need to pre order them.
I'd be ok with taking one unassembled, if it will cut cost.
What do you guys think?

i would say yes its a great idea if it wasnt for the resonable price thing. i bet mark could probably get wheels at a discounted price but theyll still not be in the resonable realm just for the simple fact that no manufacturer exception of DNA wheels of course is going to come in at less than close to a grand, for some reason this always seems to be the magic number. that is why i thought if we could find a set that would fit with mere spacer modifications it would be very cheap for all of us but its not panning out to well

Bump

Just seeing if this is a dead issue or what? Anyone make any headway yet. I found an old kdx rim but when I went to get it, drum brakes. Pre '92 I guess

to the best of my knowledge, rear sprocket is not the same as drz400..
it is the same sprocket as husqvarna but a different axle size i believe..
beta/sherco may have same hubs.... i believe they are ajp..

I guess the notion here is that if the sprocket fits, maybe the hub can work?

A Suzuki sprocket that does fit is from a DR 250 or DR350 from 1990-1995.
I know it fits because I have two for my 2001 xc300
I am not sure if GG hubs have changed since 2001.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you work this out. <<<<<edit> oops, didn't notice how old this thread was

Suzuki made two different DR models in two different sizes during those years: the regular DR and the "S" model. Only the rear sprocket from the "S" model will fit gassers. The sprockets you have must be for a DR250S or a DR350S.

Motogroove,

Look back at my posting from October and it shows what Kawasaki wheels fit for sure and what I speculate will work from some quick research. I forgot to make the update from my test on the later Kawasaki rear wheels as I picked up a 2003 KX 250. That wheel will not fit without some major thought. The 2003 (and I expect newer) KX rear axle was a larger diameter than the one from my 1999 KX 250. While you may be able to find a bearing that will fit the hub and match the GG axle I was not able to verify sprocket and disc spacing. Good luck finding something else that fits and please post if you do find something!

Could be. I'm just going by the old label I stuck in the back of my manual (attached). I wish I could remember the name of the company... out of the former Soviet Union or something. Nice sprockets and no name.

Thanks to Coopernicus for the KX update.
I posted that other thing before reading all the pages.

dirtstars on ebay seems to be the best idea.
An extra set of wheels would be nice for many reasons.

This is from JT Sprockets catalog:
DR250 L/M/N/P 90-93

DR250 L,M,N,P Off Road 90-93

DR250 S-L/M/N 90-92

DR250 SE-P,R Off Road 93-94

DR250 SE-P,R,S Off Road 93-95

DR250 SE-P/R/S 93-95

The DR250 models without the "S" use the JTR808 sprockets while the "S" models all use the JTR822 sprockets same as GasGas and late model Huskys.

so the coclusion is?
kx250 pre2003? will fit, with no mods other than spacers?
pre90 model cr250 rear?
is this correct?
not worried about sproket or rotor crossover, just hub/wheel...
cheers

I went to the RAD website, and called them for some clarification.

Eco hub $280 ("Our strongest hub. It does not have the fancy drill outs and it weighs more, but it is probably our strongest hub.)
Heavy duty spokes $70
DID wheel 18x2.15 $164

For a total (sans bearings and other stuff.) of $514.
