I had some buddies from out of town ,from Manitoba, BC and Utah, come and ride with me here in AB on the Sept. Long weekend. We had quite a few GG's here, 3-200's,1-250 and 2-300's plus 2-KTM's and one Suzuki and one guy brought his son out on a YZ85! . One day I also had two locals on Yamaha's join in. It was a fun weekend, perfect weather and only one minor (5 stitches) casualty. This is the third year we have done this and we hope to keep it up. I will post some pics when I go over them.

Damn can i come ride with you guys?? Some seriously sweet looking country out that way. Cool vids too. They are on the last page for anyone that wants to cut right to them. Was that vid with the mud puddle the begining of the hill that you shot from half way up or were the first vids a different hill??

The mud bottom hill was a different hill, it was shorter but much steeper, there is a pic of it with us all at the bottom. The other vids were from a much longer hill and climbed to a higher elevation. It is about a mile long and up a 1000ft in elevation. Anytime you want to come I can take you out for an amazing ride. Right now there is about 30cm of snow where we were riding (freak Sept storm), hopefully it will disappear soon.

I wish I lived in Alberta or BC again. I miss those mountains and foothills. I lived in St. Albert, Alberta when I was 10. We moved to Shuswap Lake in BC and lived there for 2 years before we came back to Ontario. Shuswap Lake area was exactly like your pictures. I used to ride my Yamaha MX100 everywhere. I've tried to convince the wife I should get a job at the Genesee power plant and we could move out there but she's not to keen on that idea.
Maybe some year I'll be able to come out for a ride.

Nice pictures. Was that out at Rocky Mountain House? I'd definitely be interested in joining you for a ride sometime this season, though it's gotta be on an off weekend for the PN and ODR racing series.

That was in the Ghost , north of Waiparous, which is northwest of Cochrane of the Forestry Trunk Road 40. You're welcome to come anytime, just let me know when.

I'll definitely take you up on that offer Claude. I'm pretty busy with racing and club stuff until the end of July, but if you're up for a ride in August I could probably make it out. My girlfriend lives in Sundre so I might be able to combine a trip...

Well its time for the 4th annual Alberta ride for the guys from Manitoba to come here on the Sept. long weekend. I look forward to it every year. This year I have rented a hot tub to soak in after riding. Unfortunately the area I was going to take them to is closed right now due to dry conditions, extreme forest fire condition. It is supposed to rain tomorrow and Monday so they closure may be lifted. I hope so! I am going out tomorrow to clear some trail from the huge windstorm last fall, there is so much to clean only about 60% of the single track has been cleared so far. It looks like there will be about 7 or 8 of us riding, should be great! I will post pics after the ride. Anybody that wants to come up here and ride with us is welcome to.

Well I finally had time to post some pics of our annual Sept long weekend ride. I had 5 buddies from Manitoba come for the ride. On Friday we went to Maclean Creek for a 40km ride, it poured for about 10 mins just as we got there so the trails were kinda greasy but fun. Saturday we drove about 2 hours South to the Porcupine Hills and rode the CC course from this year, about 100km mostly single track. Then on Sunday we went to the Ghost area north west of Calgary about 2 hours and a friend of mine took us on an awesome trail, up one side of a mountain and back down the other side and wound are way back along the south side to the trucks. It was fantastic, the best trail I have ever been on. After each ride the soaking in the hot tub I rented for the weekend was great. Just a perfect weekend, I can't wait till next year!
I posted the pics in the photo gallery .
