scariest thing i have ever seen... we were in the path of one of the wildfires that swept thru mesilla park sunday in the 70 mph wind gust... was in the shop, smelled it, saw it, packed the family and the dogs and got out.. here is a picture of my property from the back, mine is the un burned part.. 3 bikes in the shop, full of fuel, 3 cans of fuel, a tractor and a truck we could not get out, full of fuel... scary stuff...

I vacationed in Lubbock September of 2001 visting friends at KDAV. Had a great time and marveled at the clear deep blue skies. One day the wind was coming from the west; strong and steady, it carried the dirt off the fields. You could taste the grit in the air. Any fire pushed by that wind would be very scary.

Did you lose anything besides burnt acreage? I lost my house and everything I own in the Boulder, CO wildfire late last summer. Fire is pretty crazy stuff...

wow... no i did not lose anything...there are guys out there that lost everything...
