Any solutions for removing the tail light on a 2014 EC300R?

The tail light is part of a plastic assembly that is underneath the entire rear fender.

Has anyone had any success removing the tail light and the small part of the rear fender that dips down from the main fender without major modification?

Mine has always taken care of it's self and left on the trail next to the rock I layed it down on! :D:D

My tail light got mud and water in it after 3 rides i took it out and used black silicone on the holes. I would like to get rid of all that under fender crap too

Not much to do but start cutting. I don't think you would want to take off all of it? Since the plastic acts as something rigid to grab a hold of to lift the bike. Unless you ad a tugger strap for it.

The two molded in handholds are nice - I admit.

I just have no plans to ride at night, and would like to clean up the look of the back end. Plus any weight savings is always good.

All of that black plastic looks pretty integral to the whole fender/mudflap area though.

Considered going at it with a Dremel, but like Andy says, you'd have to fill in all the holes/gaps.

Here's an idea.... When I updated my plastic subframe to the new AL subframe here is what my underneath black fender did. You can have the other 1/2 if you want to see if you can make it work.....

If you think about it -- All Japan bikes I know of don't have the extra fender portion like ours. Why does GasGas add this part? The rear LED taillight could be intergrated in the rear fender like Honda does it. I am guessing GG do this because of the requirements for licensing in Europe and that huge extra portion that is on the bikes for the taillights and blinkers.

I don't know about the 14 but on the 12 and 13 if you order that inner fender it comes without the taillight assy. I am assuming you must be able to remove the taillight from them. If not you can buy that inner fender for about $48 for the 13.
