Chain adjuster bolt questions

I was looking at my swingarm and more specifically the chain adjuster to notice on the brake side the bolt does not grab, is this normal? Also should the allen head be on the outside? Lastly what is the spring for, should there be one on both sides?

1) The bolt does not thread into the swing arm.
2) ?
3) The spring keeps the adjuster block from falling out when you pull the axle.

The GG system is sooo much better. You don't have to worry about that heart wrenching feeling when you realize that the adjuster bolt has seized in the swingarm!

I believe it also makes it easier to check both sides are adjusted the same because the non spring side can be removed and compared to the spring side. No need to count dodgy looking notches

I guess, on my dads drz there are numbers witch make it a bit easyer

Or the KDX, where there's a nautilus-shaped flange with numbers stamped on it. You're limited to the step-wise notches on the adjuster, but I've never found it to be a limitation. (I'm fine with the GG style as well, just pointing out yet another design).

Yeah it is exactly like that. Worst thing that i ever seen is the axle was not tightened and the chain jumped off
