If PDS is so bad, KTM would not be so frequently topping the podium in offroad racing in Europe either.

The average person does not know how to set up their suspension. The linkage system is able to compensate for that.
The PDS works on a Pro level.
 
More difficult to get setup right, less versatile across different terrain, and a feel some people just can't get used to. It doesn't matter what the pros do good on, its what you feel comfortable on. I had a Cannondale/Ohlins PDS, and thought that was pretty good after Les worked it over.
