clutch lever cover crossover

Yamaha part number 56a-26372-01 it is a front brake master cylinder lever rubber guard fits late 80's IT, YZ and such. One of those parts I have a tendency to pop in my cart when on motorsport.com to reach free shipping had it in my extras box.

Fit quite nicely, well retained, very good coverage, opening to the rear larger than is necessary, but frontal coverage for keeping roost and dust and what not off my nicely lubed lever pivots is excellent, interference with normal operation is 0, fit/finish very nice, little pocket for the bolt head lines up perfectly with the bottom nut, nothing to hold up top by design of the countersunk allen head, but the rubber block snaps up tightly over the bolt head where you adjust your lever/bar distance and it is not going anywhere.

Something to consider if you are shopping somewhere that sells OE parts and need a little extra.

After riding around the yard a bit I noted it favored riding out with the gap not where I like it, notice pic 4, I pinched it over with a zip tie and it fits like a glove. The rubber has a fold in it by design to allow a break when pulling in the lever anyway, but perhaps becuase it is new it needs a little help to take a set. Anyway, pic 5 shows the way I beleive I'll leave it, just have to cut the tie every ride or so when I pull my levers to clean them and replace. The zip tie does keep the "bell" of the housing mushed over pretty snug against the master cylinder and should provide some excellent coverage for the piston pluger and it's rubber housing, which I have noted over my first few rides really likes to attract dirt.

pic 5, as I forgot only 4 pics on a post you can see the break in the rubber in this pic very well, it hinges in seamlessly when the clutch is pulled, and the gap closed up about all the way across. Really pleased with the end result.
