Counter Balance Motor

counter balance motor

Well i can let you in on a secret, the motor from the Wild HP 300 Quad is balanced and will fit the 2 wheeler, I twisted the drive gear off my balance shaft in my quad and have paid dearly for it ever since, if the vibrations that i have now is what you guys have always had then i would be doing the conversion. When i can get the funds up and find a decent engine builder in Perth Western Australia then ill be doing a complete make over, The frames already been repaired from the vibrations cracking it, so know i just need to do the motor :D.

I had a 97 EC 250 and yes smooth is and understatement! But from what I understand the counterbalencer weighs like 7 pounds. (NOt sure if this is correct but what I was told) Now on a 12 or newer it is already a border line pig. And if you add 7 more pounds.......................
Not even close to 7 pounds.. closer to one.. but rotational mass not sure of..

counter balance shaft

I would have to agree, the shaft and counter weight was very small considering what it does, the reason mine failed was the woodruff key sheared at high rpm and the gear welded itself back the shaft at 180' from its original position making it vibrate twice as bad, I'm still yet to get a new one as its bloody expensive for what it is and getting parts to Australia is ridiculous. One day soon hopefully it will get easier to get bits.

The '98 ec250 I bought is counterbalanced and it is incredibly smooth. We rode about 4 hours yesterday and my hands never went numb! As far as extra weight, I just don't see that as a deterrent. This bikes rides pretty light. I'm sure that the extra rotating mass uses some hp... Hmm, I wonder how much less power my 98 makes? It is less than my 2000 Rm 250 for sure, but much more usable on the trails. Never ridden a newer gasser, never even seen one until i bought mine. Sorry, a little off topic.
