Destroyed Clutch

My clutch is toast in my 2011 300. It was equiped with an original Rekluse Zstart. This Zstart has been installed in 3 GG. A 200 , A 250 , and now a 300 . All have been setup tight , right around .030 installed gap. All steel balls on the 200. Equally spaced Tungsted balls added to the 250 and 300.

The 200 2006 100 hours
older style basket
No ties between basket fingers
18 hole center hub
Basket and hub perfect no ridges
Quit as a church mouse always. But usually run at a higher rpm than the 250/300. But also abused more.

The 250 2007 50 hours
Basket with bridge between fingers on bottom
18 hole center hub
Basket and hub good shape. Slight ridges on basket. None on hub but the hub is showing a little wear were the steels engage.
Will ocasionally let you know that it is time to shift or gain a little RPM(Groan a bit)

The 300 2011 30 hours
Basket with bridge between fingers on bottom
18 hole center hub
Basket and Hub Junk. Deep ridges in both. Damper are fine.
When it failed I broke 4 plates. Some in 10 + pieces.
Terriblly noisy if anywere close to the wrong gear. From the start when all parts were in spec

We have talked about oil flow before with the newer basket, I am wondering if that is the only problem. Could the inner hub material be softer? Once it is grooved as deep as it it is know failure is expected. But How did it get so bad in such a short itme?

For now I am goin to install the good 250 basket and hub in the 300 with a cr250 clutch pack.

After I save a few pennies I will by a rekluse basket and maybe a core exp.

The z start will go back in the 200

I hae been one of the ones that always praised the toughness of a GG clutch. My 3 bikes from the earlly mid 2000 were industrucatable clutches.

The last 2 not so much

Rekluse makes a manual clutch with a new center hub that might be a good replacement for the '11.

iv had the same problems with my 300 clutch and i finally converted my drive plates and friction discs over to honda. the guys at rekluse can hook u up with everything you need. i started out with the core exp clutch amd was breaking clutch discs from the start, so i bought the rekluse basket and the clutches still squeeled and actually broke again after a couple of hours. then i switched over th e honda plates and now my clutch is as smooth as can be.

What was the cost of the Honda set-up, and was it a turn-key job ie, did you have to source anything outside of Rekluse or reuse any GG components?

Mine chatters if I abuse it, but I have found that the squealing is my signal to ride a gear lower, or use a tad better throttle control.

Is it simple to convert to the Honda plates?

Sounds like the clutch in my 2011 after I put it in my 2005. I thew in some old Honda plates I had and did some machining on the basket and it is just ok. Pulled the Barnett out of my 05 and put it in my 2011 with a rekluse Core and have been really happy for a year.
