Do I need to change springs?

Evening all,
I've got a 2012 EC 250 with the Sachs shock and forks and feel the whole set up could be better.

I weigh 87.5kgs which rises to 100kgs with helmet, tools, hydration pack, knee braces, boots etc
Today I measured up:
Static sag (on stand vs off stand) and got 35mm
Rider sag (on stand vs off stand with rider) 117mm
The rear spring is a 5.2 and is preloaded 15mm.

I'm not that keen in high speed mx type riding, I prefer logs, rocks, tyres and the technical stuff. I noticed severe bottoming of the rear shock when popping over harsher obstacles so I have increased the high speed compression (7 clicks from closed) to solve it. I'm guessing I need to go up at least 1 spring rate on the rear..., no idea about the front... I'm hoping there are some wizards out there that can advise.

Advice about sourcing springs in UK or Austria would also be helpful?

Cheers fellas

I think I have found a source of springs in the UK. Can anyone provide the internal diameter and length of the Sachs shock spring? Would save me the hassle of taking it off! Cheers

I weigh a little less, but come up about the same once geared up.

Going through this now with my 2013 model (which has the Marzocchi forks), and Ohlins shock, so may be some variances there.

The newer chasis likes less sag! I'm running 98 race sag on the stock spring and it carves like a knife. The problem is in all that preload. It holds the bike up when you're on it, but will still blow through when you hit things hard. Ideally you want to find the spring that gives you under 10mm preload and the sag figures of around 35/100.

I tried my 5.4 rate on the 2013 model and it felt too stiff but that was the second ride on it, and was also getting the forks dialled in and feeling right. I may try the heavier spring and some valving changes.

The Sachs shock, reiger shock and KYB shocks all use the same shock spring.
Measurements are 61.5mm ID, 265-270mm length. You will need a spring compressor to put the spring on the Sachs shock.

The Sachs forks also use the 470mm long KYB springs.
