Do you have a reducer on your carb body? Pic added

The bike is a 2011 xc250 race model. Here are some pictures of the carburator to air boot connection. I call it a reducer because it looks like one, but it is more of an extension. I double checked, and the carburetor is clearly stamped 38 on the top of it.

I was unsuccessful at getting the boot onto the carb body, but it leaks oil when mounted onto the extension. if I screw the clamp too much it pops the boot off. With the boot on the extension it leaks oil and if it can leak oil out it can suck dirt in.

I have yet to find anyone with a bike that has this extension.

Thank you for any ideas ? Adam Acosta 207x.

I was thinking the same thing. Is he talking about a powernow type thing? On my 07 the carb boot attaches directly to the carb.

Could it be a 36mm carb with a different air bell dia.? They used to be the same on the old 36/38 PWKs, but the new AS IIs?

My carb is a 36, and the boot fits on it directly. Ill bet that is on there because that air cleaner boot is a PITA to get on the back side of the carb. Its sits odd at an angle and can be a horrible wrestling match. That would help.

I have a 36 on my 11 250 sd and it goes right on to the carb. At first glance I thought you had the clamp on the wrong side. I haven't pulled the carb off yet so I have no idea about the hasssle factor. mu 06 300 carb boot was a pita

My 250 race has the 38mm carb and the same black plastic "adapter" or extension...I assumed it was due to the carb being shorter, there's no way the boot will fit/reach the carb without it. I haven't had an issue with mine, only 15hr on it. If I do, might try a small ring of jb weld to make a "barb", or go to a 36mm carb.

That shitswhacked! Like it wasn't strange enough having just two sized carbs, now we have different connections too!

Is the reed spacer still in place on both the bikes using the adapter? Do your drain plugs undo with a 14mm spanner or a 17mm?

My 2010 300 has the 38mm ASII with the 17mm plug. No spacer.

I have the regular 2011 ec250 with a 36mm carb and no airboot adapter while my friend Stu has a 2011 250 race with a 38 carb that has the adapter.

My 36 has a main jet cap that takes a 14mm wrench. There must have been supply problems for the factory to use such an assortment of carbs. Airboot connects directly to the carb.
