Dual mapping switch on 05 de250

Can someone direct me to a link that describes how to install this switch...don't know if it's an early or late 05 either. Thanks!

First remove the seat from your bike and locate the CDI box. If it is mounted to the fender (instead of in the airbox) you most likely have the dual mapped CDI box. I say most likely as I have never seen the newer style CDI box mounted in the airbox (like the 04 and older bikes) but it probably could have happened.

The most important thing to do is check the end of the CDI box for two short wires (maybe 2 inches long) that are either plugged into each other are just hanging loose.

If you have the dual map CDI box these two leads are the circuit for the Hi-Lo settings. When the circuit is open (unplugged) you are in the Hi setting. When it is closed (plugged in) it is the Lo setting.

These 2 leads (if available) are where you plug your Hi-Lo switch into.

Thanks...and I can't believe this thing was in the lo setting before, even though the difference isn't substantial.

The Hi-Lo mapped ignition has the biggest effect when the bike is properly jetted so care has to be made to work out any jetting issues before looking for any notable differences in the 2 settings.
