EC/GP300 Front wheel bushing

On all 2018 300's the front wheel bushings are same size on both sides. What I do not understand is, that the bushings have a ridge on one side which is intended to slip into the wheels outer seal.

The funny thing is that on the right side the bushing is installed the "wrong" way and its ridge points outwards (see pictures below).

I checked this on all bikes my dealer had in the show room and on my friends bikes, they all have the right hand side bushing installed with the ridge pointing outwards.

Can anyone explain me why az GasGas they install it this way? Some riders I know have turned the right bushing so that its ridge slips into the seal.

The ridge needs to be on the inside.
Keeps the spacers from falling out when you remove the axle.

I have switched them around to get more life out of them.

I am convinced that it is as you say.

Was yours installed with the ridge pointing outwards?

My 2013 was setup from the factory as yours are too.

Think it's just the way they do it.. Spanish flare or something!

As above, makes little difference which way they go.

Thanks Jakobi, in the meantime I checked the parts book and the drawing is, as you probably expected, correct. The ridge points to the wheel.
Talked to a German dealer and he said the bikes come delivered with front wheel not installed and the left, only the left, bushing is strapped to the wheel with a zip tie. Obviously the assemblers just dont know and install it the wrong way.

No big deal, I was just wondering. So all clear now ;)

Sory for the post jacking, does any one know how to take out the left rear wheel bushing? on the side of the chain. I found it very dificult to take out and i couldn?t do it.

I was trying to lubricate the wheel bearings and i couldn?t do it on that side.

Regards.

Helo, thanks for the info, but it didn?t help.

I was referring to the bushing on the rear wheel, my bike is a 2018 ec 300.

For those who are interested, below a picture from the official GasGas Setup Manual 2018, shwoing how everything has to be installed when the bike is delivered.

Sometimes they are a tight fit. I've had to carefully lever them out, working around the lip on the face of the bushing before.
