I am getting ready to do the squish band mod and thought I better check to see where the timing is. FYI this is a 05 ec200. I did a search and came up with this thread...

http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5124

My bike was missing the small bolt so I dug around in my metric bin and found one. I then screwed it into place to see how close it was But considering where my timing is is this even close??

The bolt slide into place with no resistance so I would say its over 6mm easily.

My bike starts easily and just yesterday I thought a herd a very light spark knock but its the only time I have herd it sense buying the bike a month ago. May be not as I have never herd it before??

Thanks guys in advance. Al

I was doing a little more reading and found out some bikes have a Map switch wires so I tore my seat off and found the orange and black wires plugged in together. Does this mean I am getting full power and the timing is advanced even more??

Also if these are map switch wires can I get a map switch and mount it on the handle bars?? Thanks Guys. Al

Well I just could not believe there was not a timing mark on the stator plate so I did some more investigating. Under the one screw at the top of the stator plate there is a timing mark and it aligned perfect for 1mm BTDC with the flywheel.

Now I know there is a timing mark on the 2K2 stators.

So my timing is set correctly at 1mm BTDC correct??

Hmm, was a while ago but I ran my 02 200 on the dyno after headmod and found my way back to the std scribed position after trying a bit of retard and advance.
