ec250 compression

Hi, i was messing around with my bike today, just giving it a bit of a once over.
I decided to give it a compression check and it came out at 185psi.
The bike is a '05 ec250, is this about right?
Secondly, when you compression check do you hold the throttle wide open and kick until it rises no more on a cold engine? I kicked around 10-15 times to get to this figure. Is this right?

Thats good to know! Do you normally have to kick 15 times until the tester needle rises no more? What are ec250's usually?

Compression testers have variability and methods vary, so a compression test isn't particularly scientific

I'm with him on this, I held off replying as its an old argument.

But yes add a good splash of oil thrown up by the crank webs & you can get differing results.

Locking the engine at TDC & using a ring seal leak tester is more accurate. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it & just ride it.
