EC250 EC300 2002 reeds

Hello gang,

on my friends 02 EC250 with 300 cylinder

should there be a spacer between reeds and carburetor? it looks like Boysen reeds and diagram i saw calls for a spacer there. Is it big deal if I dont have one?

also, one of the reed petals is not closing completely in natural state, is it a problem?

Yes, that could cause running issues.

It has been my understanding that the reed block spacer was there to increase effective crankcase volume which in turn reduces the "hit." All of the MX based 2T bikes I've had did not have the spacer but I have seen some people add it to their MX bikes to tone down the power. My '01 XC does have a spacer.

some came with it, others didn't. My '00 came without. My kids '04 came with. Then... some people add one, some remove it. It's all about prefferance and how you like the power delivery.

The 300cc engines came with the intake spacer.
