I recently had my forks set up by Les (www.lt-racing.com) and was very happy with the results.
On Saturday, I was racing and felt like the rear wheel is bouncing off of things more than I would like (it was a rocky course). On Sunday, I went to make some adjustments.
My first thought was that I had too much compression dampening on the shock, keeping it from sucking up the hits from thee rocks. When I went to soften it up, I discovered that it was already set as soft as it would go.
So now, I think i want to start over with a recommended baseline, and go from there.
I'm looking for good starting places. Primarily for the rear, but will take recs for teh front as well.
