ec300 kickstart retaining bolt

Hi,

I was riding round an MX track when I noticed the kickstart lever had vanished, I managed to find it, but now need to find the bolt that holds it on. I'm in the UK and haven't managed to find it for sale, maybe I'm not calling it the right name. Are there any other crossover bolts I can use, and where to buy?

Thanks

The original has got a rounded head that is torx and I think it's the same bolt as the one that holds the lever to the pivot. I locktite both bolts on my bike and have still lost 2 and when that happens the check ball that detents the lever disappears in the forest as well. A hex head would probably work but might be tough on you right boot. I'm going to try putting some kind of rubber boot or something around the assembly to minimize the vibration/harmonics that keep backing out the bolts.

i've run a hexhead for about a year. no issues, and it's not impossible to deal with like the torx... with the torx, it continually loosened up, even when torqued for me.

just on the splined shaft.

It's the lever that wants to come loose on mine but a few times I have caught the splined shaft bolt loose. My engine must have the perfect harmonic to back these out.

When I first bought the bike the lever bolt fell out but the lever had not fallen off. I stalled the bike and flipped out the lever and gave it a hard kick and had zero resistance. I think I hyperextended my knee and was surprised I didn't cause my leg to come off and fly through the woods.

fiche says 6x12. i looked at mine. i used 1 6x14, 1 flat washer, and 1 split lock washer. and red loctite

so either of those head styles. 6x16 may fit, i'm not taking mine out - it's loctited in, and i'd rather not loosen it for any reason :)

Try trail&enduro direct I got the stock part of them today

Mines come loose a few times as well. I loctite the bolt into the shaft and loctite the spline. Leaving it loose and vibrating is a bad idea - it will accelerate splin wear. I believe there is a design flaw here. Alloy spline with no split/clamping type mechanism, and the splines are not tapered. WTF?

I'm not sure that there isn't a very slight taper. At any rate I'm on my 4th gasser (all I've owned now for 11 years) and haven't had a loose starter problem with any of them.
