2500 ks and its chain and sprockets time, got the standard on 13/48 has anyone tried different ratios maybe 13/50 wat do think or should i stick to 13/48

I've ran a 13/52 and a 13/50 ratio. To me gear ratio is dependent on quite a few variables. The biggest variables to me would be terrain and skill. If you're ripping across the open flats then you probably wouldn't want a 52 or even a 50. If you're in the the mountains a lot then you might consider a lower ratio which could come from a 50 or 52. Now for skill........it depends on the rider. If you have the consistant skill to carry speed over steep mixed terrain then you probably wouldn't need a lower gear. I'f you're weak on the steep technical stuff then a 50 or 52 will help.

The 300 has a lot of low end power and will allow you to lug the engine quite a bit on the steep technical stuff even with a 48. I'm a pretty big fella and I usually stay in 2nd, 3rd & 4th on the trails I ride so I appreciate the lower gear ratio. I'm currently running a 13/50 set. Another thing to consider with running a higher tooth rear sprocket is that it quickly becomes a wheely monster on the hills.

I am also running the 13/50 setup on my EC300 and find it perfect for the woods. Run a lot of 2nd and 3rd gear, as well as some 4th - only use 1st in the tightest situations, but it comes in handy when needed. Often start in 2nd. Agree with the previous post re the bike becoming a wheelie machine... have to keep your weight forward. Would recommend 13/50 unless you do a lot of open area or road riding.

Another 13/50 300 rider here. This has been a really good set up for me because I use to shift quite a bit in the tighter stuff. This set up allows me to stay in 2nd or 3rd gear when it get's tight.
