Elec Start Kit 2007 EC300 query

hi guys. I've added an Elec start kit to my 2007 EC300 and have no idea how to sort a wiring harness issue. Near the coil, the new harness has 2 wires and the old harness 3 wires that connect to earth, coil and the "alternator/regulator" (as per parts manual).

Enclosed photos show old and new harness and my assumption for fitting wires. I have no idea what the yellow wire needs to connect to. Any help appreciated thanks

I'd like to help but I don't know enough about the older bikes. I would say that the unit with the yellow wire is your voltage regulator, but my expectation is that it's meant for AC voltage clipping only.

I believe you have the larger 2K3 ignition. In this case the stator has two outputs. One is yellow to ground (most of the windings) and the second is white to ground (full windings).

A typical estart bike will use the yellow wire for AC lighting and the white wire for battery charging. The white wire goes to a halfwave rectifier. The rectifier output connects to the battery. A non-estart bike will only use the yellow wire (AC lighting; the white is not connected).

So my guess is that you also need a rectifier for DC voltage to charge your battery. Did your kit come with any wiring diagrams or additional parts?

Go to: http://www.gasgasmotos.es/en/manuals/2.html and download 2011"EC 250 cc E" or 2011 "EC 300 cc E" from the EXPLODED column (it's the same manual in both places). The diagram can be zoomed in enough to follow the connections.

Be aware that the stator white wire cannot be shown against the white PDF background, so it is drawn in black. This had me wondering for a while until I realized why it couldn't be white.

I would have attached it here for you but it's twice the size of the forum PDF attachment limit. This should point you in the right direction. I suspect you should replace the existing voltage regulator with a new one from the kit and match the wiring to the 2011 specifications.

Spend time to understand the diagram; this should get you a lot farther ahead of just guessing.
