Exhaust noise

Hi all, im new here.

Ive recently got a '03 400fse and was wondering how loud the exhausts supposed to be?, mines pretty loud even after repacking it and was wondering if this is normal or whether anyone has any tips on repacking it?.
Next question is about the kickstarter it doesn't spring back up after kicking it (not that i use it much) would i be right in thinking its just the spring has broke or something more serious?

Got an '06 400 pampera with the stock krieger on it. Done over 8000 k on it and still have not had to repack. Lots of people comment how quiet it is when just tooling along. If you crank the revs up it gets a bit loud but I don't think it's loud enough to be offensive. Looked at other pipes but will happily stick with the krieger.
Check that the kickstarter mount is not fouling on the clutch case when you kick all the way down. Mine does and that jams it at the bottom of the stroke. It finally cut a hole through the casing which needed repair to stop oil leaking out.
