Fork Differences Questions

hi,
i have a friend who is looking at an '03 gasgas ec250 with zokes forks and ohlins.
he's coming from a '06 husky wr250 with zoke shivers forks and sachs[?].

i am trying to help him determine the major differences he can expect.
i know that newer forks get better but i am trying to get a feel for the differences he might notice.
the terrain will be snotty rocky desert technical stuff.

i have an '06 gg ec300 and he likes those forks.
