fuel tank marks

i have 09 ec250, the fuel tank as markings on it 3l 6l I assume this is the amount of fuel left in litres, drained tank and the fuel was at 3l actual amount out 4.5 litres poured it back in and added another 5 litres, fuel is still not at the bottom of the filler neck, so are the markings in some other measurement then litres

The markings are in Liters. My guess would be that those markings do not take your reserve fuel into account, and that is where the extra 1.5L came from.

Tank itself should hold 9L comfortably.. 9.5L topped off..

The markings are meant to indicated 6 Litres usable remaining and 3 Litres usable remaining so you can judge how much you have left in the tank..

Mine hits reserve about 10mm below the 3L mark..
