Should be a 6mm.Anyone happen to know the size and thread pitch of the bolt that mounts the fuel tank to the frame (by the steering head)?
Mine seems to have gone missing after the ride Saturday; pulled the tank off so many times that I think I forgot to loctite it
Make sure you have a shouldered washer that fits thru tank, so you don't cause a leaking fuel tank. Something that will tighten up, but not compress the tank.. That was the original leaking point on my first 11' tank.
mine disappeared long ago...on 3 different bikes.I would consider that bolt optional.
It works great because it does not suck the gas tank down tight to the frame which does cause stress on the tank and then eventually leak.
i use a regular bolt with a wide shoulder and place a fat plastic washer under the tank which is glued to the frame so it doesnt get lost.
this way the tank is held firmy. i think the plastic washer was part was from a car oil drain plug. you can use just about anything though
Thanks - That is a GREAT idea!!! Cheaper than my $14 bling bling bolt.... ;-)
