gas tank vent hose

I'm wondering where U guys like to position your vent lines? I got my '03 ec250 used, and it ran from the tank's cap, over the bars, and then down between the two radiators, where it was tied off to the frame downtube.
It was close enough to the exhaust's header area, that I didn't feel comfortable about it. I then ran it from the cap, over the bars, and down thru that little bracket on the steering column, behind the headlite. So now it's pointing directly over the front fender. Still not that happy with it.
In the past I've tried the shorty tank vent with the one way valve. I like the idea, but I've lost 3 or four of them. Someone mentioned to use super glue on them, but I sold that bike soon after doing that. Any suggestions on where to position a safe gas vent line? Thanks, Bob.

If not into the frame with the stock breather bolt, may not be on 03', then into the steering stem.

Never run it down the steering stem. If fuel overflows from the tank, it will run down to your steering bearings.

Will the shorty vent still work properly if cut a little shorter? Do U guys use super glue and or safety wire to attach it?
Also, I'm using the 3.2 gal. gas tank. Can U tell me if I could use that nipple bolt where the tank attaches to the frame? Is that not where the tank was vented originally? Thanks, Bob.

Safety wire on the hose. Yes, I don't see why you couldn't use the nipple bolt on the tank.

That can't happen. The steering stem tube runs all the way to the bottom of the tripple clamp and exits out on the fender.

The steering stem is hollow, the bearings are on the outside of the stem and run in the steering head

Now that you think about it, that is right. Looks like I bought into an old wives tale right there. Sorry for the confusion

There was mention of the "stubby" vent tube. I used this on my previous bike & ran into a situation where the tank didn't vent/breathe properly & actually choked off fuel to the petcock. When I twisted the gas cap, a whoosh of air rushed through my fingers...bike then started right up. Just a heads up if you run into this situation.

Probly be wise to take it off from time to time and test it. I would think dust could build up and clog it? I wonder if U could clear it with air pressure, or spray it clean with brake cleaner or similar.

Ive been using the stubby for 3 years now , and other than losing one on a step off and i didnt notice that i must have caught it with my leg and knocked off , ive had absolutely no problems whatsoever . I suppose they could clog up , but its never been an issue for me. Doesn't the gas cap have a valve in it too ? Like a ball bearing or something ? just throwing an idea out that maybe that was the clogging problem

I run mine into a little Fram inline gas filter, to filter the dusty air going into the tank. But I'm @n@[
