Has anyone turned a 300 into a dual sport ? What all did you do ? How did it turn out ? I am going to do something soon and like Gassers .

Not a 300, but I dual sported my 250. In the electrical forum under the "DC conversion without floating the ground" thread I posted a link to a .pdf I wrote on how I did mine.

Call Budd Matto he has some headlights with turn signals and a rear tailight assembly with turn signals. All OEM GasGas. He has them priced to sell!

I have been wanting to buy a bike from Bud anyway I will take a ride up and look at them . As far as wheels to switch out and gearing to get some top end speed any ideas ? Anyone out there that has some suggestions that would be great !

My 2011 300 is Pa plated.
With stock gearing it will run road sections at 50-55 all day long without being on the pipe....easy to hit 70 for short distance is needed.
I just throw on my Clarke tank for runs where long distance between gas stops is an issue.
Throw a seat concepts foam and cover on the bike if you do plan to run longer events like the Dabbers event....your ass will thank you.

Agreed on the seat deal! I rode a 300XC at the LBL 200 back in 2010. The bike performed without whimper, but the GG seat foam caused me lots of pain :o

A custom seat redo will probably be the next mod I do to my bike. I will definately go wth seat concepts because they make the best dirt bike seats I've ever ridden on. They don't list GasGas on their web site but they will do them custom if you send them your seat pan. Cost is over $200 but well worth it if you sit down a lot.

I have a Guts Racing seat on mine and really like it. I have the stock foam and cover but never put it on to compare.

What gearing are you running Boom Boom ?

I dual sport my '11 300 all the time. me doing 200 mile loops is common, try to keep it 90%
dirt though.

Would love to buy a '14 GG, but no bigger fuel tank is holding me back,
looking at KTM's [gasp] since there is a 5.3 gallon tank available.

Most of us UK'ers who 'Greenlane' (Use legal to use old tracks / unpaved roads) to get our off-road kicks) HAVE to dual-sport effectively, as we need to use the tarmac roads to join up these Green-lanes.

These Greenlanes are pretty sparse in my part of the UK, but typically a Sunday ride for us is around 100 miles. Half of that being Tarmac.

I've got mine geared on 14/48. Any bikes cruising speed depends on how mechanically sympathetic you are to some degree. I find mine cruises comfortably at 45mph.....50mph if we are getting a lick-on and need to be somewhere in a 'hurry', and i have seen 75-80mph ping up on the speedo when i gave it a burst down a hill once.

On tarmac i try to be a little smoother in general, but especially with the gear-changes to give the gearbox an easier time. Particulaly on downshifting.

Me too

Yes 10' 300. Sicass Racing Kit, plug n' play. Still looks like a Dirt Bike

Not that I do not love 2 strokes but the new Sherco 450 will be out soon n it sound very nice indeed  Is the bikes gearbox decent on the road as a dual sport ?
