I pulled a pair of Renthals off my bike this winter to find a 30mm crack in the area where yours broke. Better to break in a dead drop than in the whoops or a sharp hit at speed.
rite were the tie down goes,,,hhmmmmmmm! use soft webbing or inner bark buster mount,,not the first time ive seen this,,,also says it on pro taper warning,,didnt read mine till it was to late too,,,,OUCH
The bars turned to the right in the crash so the bark busters didnt take the hit, but the subframe did
No, the camera wasnt running, would have looked impressive though, kind of a ghost ride backflip 180 flair.
My thoughts exactly GMP, whoops are dodgey enough as it is.
Randy, iv heard about the tie down warning aswell, never given it a second thought untill now. What do you mean soft webbing? The tie downs I use dont have a hook on the bars, they have a cloth loop.
Guess you can figure where this is going now, what bars can you recommend, and what bend? Staying with tapered bars. I can get Renthal, Tag, Pro Taper, probably others.
Yeh, or maybe bounce your bike high enough and this is what you can expect and having ridden with (well, behind usually) Noobi a few times now, the inevitable spectacular crash is what you can expect!
ive heard the twinwall renthals are too stiff , never tried a pair. if you want to drop some big cash ive never heard a bad thing about flex bars , someday ill have a pair....
Are you saying 3m as in 9 feet? At speed or did the bike just fall out of the sky? Onto the end of the bar? I suppose you could have hoped for a pretzeled bar instead of a broken one ...
Yep, 3m as in 9 feet. I was riding on the side of a hill and inadvertently launched the bike straight up in front of me, but instead of going up, it did a 180 and landed in a hollow on the side of the hill, made a heck of a noise when it happened.
I guess front that height I should be glad it was just the handlebar and sub frame, opposed to swingarm or forks etc. If I had been on the bike and it dropped down 3m, while not moving forward, I probably would be in hospital right now.
