wtf. I broke the kickstarter off today on my 2012 300 with 40 hrs on it. Is this a common problem? I want to like the bike, is this the kind of quality that I should expect from gasgas?? some please help. Does gasgas recall the kickstarters? I guess I should put a Yamaha kickstarter on my Yamagas, I mean gasgas. lol I have never heard of anyone ever breaking a Yamaha kickstarter.

The yamaha kicker is much better. Better design makes starting easier, and the strength is better too. Have seen a few poor casts with the GG kickers but never experienced one snapping myself.

Every brand has its issues.

I've seen broken kickstarters on plenty of Japanese & Euro bikes. Is this the first thing you've ever broke on a bike with 40 hours? Consider yourself lucky if so.

Replace with a cheap used Yamaha kicker off eBay and be done with it.

My buddy and I bought two of the very first Yz 400s that were brought into the country that year. He snapped two kick starters on his bike and I never had a problem at all, go figure. The yz 250 kick starter are very good and inexpensive.
I've never had a problem with the kick starter on my 2011 GG but then, I use the electric starter most of the time.

I almost scored a YZ kicker when buying my SSS forks. Close examination showed that it was rooted and was angling past 90degrees. I'd still be careful with 2nd hand.

I think I remember telling you about this, think you even wrote it down. LOL Believe me I had my doubts about the Gasgas when I bought my first one. They require a bit of set up, swapping of a few parts. Lets just take Sam V for a ride and when he crashes we will beat him up and take his kickstarter!

We need to get out for a ride and we will get your bike sorted out. Have you checked the clutch basket yet? If its drilled I recommend getting the Rekluse basket.

I bent the one on my 12 and the one on my 13. Never broke it but bent it so it would not swing out. So not sure when the new style came out.

I seen some 12's and 13's with the old style, both my 12's came with new style:confused:

Wimpy, I remember u told me about the kicker. Lol. The I havnt yet checked the basket. The subframe was good. I really want to like the bike, that's why I will put a Yamaha kicker on it so this doesn't happen again. Wimpy are u riding Rorr dual Sport? I guess I will be riding the old ktm this weekend.

I would say some of this finish quality ain't the greatest but by god that little bike is the best one I've owned and I ride it dam hard and it's never missed a beat
Far better than any ktm

GasGas aluminum is like butta! Bent or broken every GG kickstarter I've ever used. The shift lever splines wear out too fast too.

12' 300 kickstarter

The kick starter broke on my bike today. 1st start of the day- bummer. Time for a YZ kicker.
