well i also asked in my original post-Is it just me? Or does my local gg dealer possibly play into it as well. quite possibly both of us? my local gg dealer has almost zero stock on hand in gasgas parts, they don't seem to have any pricing numbers available without phoning Dave and they once in a while have a gasgas or maybe 2 on the floor, mixed in with their 6 or 8 other oddball lines. They have more moto-guzzi's on the floor than gassers!
What started this thread originally was me trying to buy a graphics kit through the dealer . 2 to 3 weeks later and after 3 or 4 calls and a couple of visits in person, I still had no answer on if or how much it would cost to get me a kit or how long would it take to actually get it to me.The dealer parts people also told me that they had left numerous messages with Dave, and he almost never returns their calls.
I myself called and emailed dave about prices and availability, and that also took at least a week and numerous emails/ phone calls to finally get an answer on what i looking for.
I was toying with the idea of prettying up my 11 ec300 selling it and jumping up to a newer gasgas, which a couple were floundering and not selling on the local kijji site.
As i also said from a consumers point of view, if this is the way a product line is being promoted, i don't hold out much hope for long term success , no matter how good the bikes are.
I have owned 3 ec300's back to back since 2003 till present, but I'm really not sure that i'll be back for round 4.
ps: Dave did order me a complete kit with an expected delivery date early to mid april. I'll let you all know, when my order does arrive.
If anyone wants to call me out on the accuracy of any of my statements here feel free to call up the folks involved , and ask them for their side of the story. I'll be happy to pm you their contact info.
just on a side note, i can order parts for my ktm 525 dualsport bike and they are either on the shelf at the dealer, or in my hand 2 or 3 days later.Even with my "attitude"! Which by the way is -Get chit done. I'm in the automotive service industry / self employed shop owner, and that's the way i have to run my business to stay successful in todays very demanding world.
I'm also old enough to remember when ktm was an unheard of orphan brand from way accros the pond.Any one have any idea how they got to be the complete dominant force in the dirtbike world? Hard work, good products, and parts and service from their dealers and distribution end that was and still is second to none!
That kind of supply chain works for me!
GasGas could and should take a page or two out of ktm's success story book.
