Gauging Interest- Gas Gas Ride Near Saratoga Springs

Would people come to this?

230 acres of private property. Some trails, some grass track, needs some trails cut too, so maybe some people could come a day in advance and help out? There is flat ground for camping.

It's about 45 mins from Albany, closer if you are coming across the VT mountains as it's east of Saratoga.

Just getting started on the idea trying to see what the interest level is....

Sideshow,

Is that the CATRA land? i've been there, its cool. I'd be interested, just need a date ASAP before the wife claims it from me.

Ed,

I had planned on the Classic, but then my brother is hurt and friend can't go. Hate to do that drive up alone. I still might go if I can fine someone to go with. Is any one day better than the other?

Next possibility is the Hancock Quarry Run that is always awesome. 8/6-7.

I hope your brother heals up soon. Sat and Sun are different and have their strong points. I've never done the whole Sunday ride because we leave at the cut-off to get home at a reasonable hour on Sunday. Sunday's ride has some of the most fun terrain, especially the Bear Brook SP section. I really find it hard to say do one day over the other, but Sunday would be the winner if I did.

Sideshow,

I've been to CATRA and Flach's farm, so this is something new I guess. Good.

Is this something I could bring my kids to? The 9 yr old has raced the CATRA black fly when he was 7. The 12 yr old has raced in south Jersey and is honing his rock skills now on a KX85. I torture him weekly.:D Either way would be good but its always easier to get away if the kids go too.

Usually Sunday is easier riding.
The one year that I rode Sunday I wished I hadn't bothered. Way too much time spent on roads. There were some really fun sections, but there was just too few of them. Pavement would lead to dirt road which changed to Jeep road which changed to FUN for a short bit, then back to Jeep...
Maybe I just picked a bad year to do both days ?

Yep, it's a un-ridden area for sure. I am the first one ever to put anything other than farm roads on the property.

It's rather kid friendly in that it's fairly soft so far... the trails are harder to keep open than burned in.

Brian, I think they changed it some. I don't recall riding too much road on Sunday. Either day you will get plenty of snowmobile trails.

I've done a hare scramble at Flach's some years back and it was great. I think that five or six years ago GasGas had their dealers meeting ride there as well.

Sideshow,

If the date selected is OK, I have no problem comming up for the weekend and doing some cleanup work Saturday for a Sunday ride.

I would be up for some trail work and some fun riding, if that's what we are still talking about. I'm on the CT shoreline and have offspring in Burlington, VT. I hope a date gets set that works.

A gathering of Gas Gasses would be a gas.

Get a date nailed down so I/we can commit. If I don't claim dates my wife will!

As a side note/alternate/addition, Hancock Quarry Run is 8/6-7. Thats an easy no work event for everyone to meet, ride together, and have a great time.
