Big news the new EC300 has arrived in the state after a 4000 km journey from West Australia!

IMG20200403101307.jpg

Its my first 2 stroke since a 1980 PE 250 (I know i am showing my age:D)

After some general advice:

1. Any tips on running in?
2. Any preferred oils for the gearbox?
3. Is 50:1 the right premix ratio

Thanks for your help in advance:cool:

Get jd jet kit for better jetting we run klotz r50 many years no problems 50:1 is good you will love the bike best suspension out of the box

Congrats!

1.) ride it calm when engine is cold, ride it normal when engine has warmed up, avoid WOT in deep sand or steep uphills, shift a lot and after two hours its ready to braaaaap!!
2.) any oil you like but GG says it should be 10/40. More important: no auto oil with friction reducers, check its suitable for wet clutches (jaso-MA)
3.) Yes

Have fun and drop a line from time to time :D

Advice;

Yes, ride it before your state gets locked down.

That's if ScMo can ever bring himself to backing down and admitting this might actually be a problem. So, no rush then. He's as quick as a Hillman Hunter stuck in 2nd.

Yes, ride it before your state gets locked down.

We're locked down in Victoria, I'm even thinking of draining the fuel out of my bike, I don't see a chance to ride it in at least 6 weeks from now.

Congrats on the new bike, I bought mine 2nd hand from WA too but they shipped it rolling not crated up like that.

1. Warm up fully (radiator uncomfortable to touch) and then run it like you stole it!
2. Any motorcycle specific motor oil in the correct weight range or ATF Type F or any racing ATF. I run ATF Type F in all my 2T's here in the US.
3. 50:1 should work just fine as long as you are using a high quality 2T oil and not one intended for weed whackers and chainsaws.

Ditch the cable choke in favour of the carb mounted plunger if it still has the cable version. It is just a pathway for dirt in your carb.

Put it on a stand, get a chair and look at it while drinking a nice cold beer :D

Best idea I've heard all day!

Thanks for the other advice guys

Was let down by person who was supposed to help me transport th bike home this week so it is still at the dealers :(

So I'll get it next week and post a pick

Have a good Easter break everyone

First impression on my look around

Positive:

It has a gripper seat fitted - I can take that off my shopping list!

Moving it around there are finger shaped indents under the rear mudguard to help - take a seat strap off my shopping list!

Negative:

Rear brake pedal isn't folding - add one to my shopping list!

Rode it about 10 km around the neighbourhood the jetting is crap! Smooth enough until you give it a handful from steady throttle then it bogs down.
The shop was supposed to have fixed the jetting as part of the PDI , told me they were fitting a NECH needle which would provide a good result!
It will be heading back to the shop for them to sort it!

Any info on that clutch cover? Never seen that one before.

It finally arrived
