I'm off to Gotland again. This will be my 8th time. I leave from home Wednesday morning with my mate Magne. He rides a 2019 EC250, I'm on my 2015 EC200. I's a 610km drive to the ferry, so we'll use most of Wednesday in the van.
Gotland Grand National
We both ride in the 50-59 class, it's my last year in this class. We are 484 riders in our class, and are racing Friday, together with the army bikes, women and above 60, 673 riders in one single start. This is as mentioned on Friday. On Saturday, on the other hand, there are 2500 riders on the track. This is among the largest races in the world.
The track is 22km long, I hope to do 4 laps (as I do most years). Last year I managed to do 5 laps, in near perfect conditions. I expect more mud and slippery conditions this time. My usual position is well behind mid-field, so I'm expecting a place around 350-400 in the 484 man race. Time will show. I'm looking forward to it, that's for sure.
Magne is somewhat faster than me and aims for a top 200 position.
