Gotta make due with what you got... Maybe?

I've been wanting a headlight. Just a headlight, nothing else. Right now I got number plate. I went to my old junk pile and took a front light off my old 84 it200 Yamaha. I have no idea how to wire it and I have no diagrams. He's some pictures. Any commentary or help would be great. Needs a nice coat of black spray, bulb is good. I believe the high low switch is still on the 200. I got multiple toggles if need be. My ec250 I don't think ever had a battery. There's no room for one. So could I run it off the stator? I got the 2.2k. exits at 10 o'clock, smaller flywheel. Or the little black box coming off the coil. Believe it's the reticifier? Anyonewould be great. Electrical is not my strong suit... At all.....

A really basic setup would be to have it on all the time the engine is running. Yellow wire off the stator connects to voltage regulator lead and whichever HI or LO filament you want to use. Other side of filament connects to ground. Done.

Or you could connect the filaments using a single pole double throw toggle switch. Yellow to the common switch terminal, other switch terminals go to the HI and LO filaments. The common side of both filaments is then grounded.

So I will need a switch? I'll see how the it200 one is today. I got some videos last night using a test light. Yellow is indeed power. Here's a video. I don't have any switch hooked up yet. https://photos.app.goo.gl/LbefWxWbMAMjxysM7... I want to know what that wire Down near the expansion chamber is for. High/low switch? I just mocked up the airfilter so I could run some tests. This is a 2007 subframe on an 2005. I am waiting on my 07-09 plastics and airbox assembly.

You only need a switch if you want ON/OFF (basic SPST switch) using one headlight filament. If you want to change from LO to HI buy a SPDT switch (yellow connected to the common terminal). You could also buy a SPDT switch with a "center off" function if you want to turn the light off.

SPST=single pole single throw
SPDT=single pole double throw
center off means the switch has three positions

I'll have to take a picture. That was supposed to be a video. It runs up the left hand side of the frame. I'll snap a picture when I go up there. It connects to another wire that keeps going up to the handlebar area but someone cut it. It's powered so it had to go to something. I noticed it sparking like crazy when I started the bike. My guess is thhe switch.

This. 1 yellow and 1 white leading into 2 black. Maybe for original speedo?

I personally wouldnt be destroying that IT200 headlight surround as they are getting rare these days. Pretty sure I have a Honda one here I could swap depending on where you are.

It's got some cracks. I got the whole parts bike still outside. I have most things. engine is no good. The light has a little crack and was painted that way when I got it. I wasn't going to use it. Just wanted to test some things.

You want to see some of my IT200s. Bottom of the barrel had rust pits throughout ( I like to think they make it lighter with less drag on the piston skirt), tide marks on crank and tranny bearings etc, frame rust covered by powder coating.

Point being they dont make those plastics any more and may be worth more than scrap.

I got it all including the motor torn apart in a crate outside unfortunately. It's only missing the handle bars and carb. Tank actually is decent is so is plastics, frame, swinger, rims. ECT ECT. Motor is toast. Part of the case halves broke off inside that supports the kicker shaft. I was sheering those every other day. But it did run awesome at one time. I got that plastic boost bottle too. Probably going on the gas gas for an experiment

I did get this light to work. Used an off/on toggle switch. Now I ordered a new light and got a off/ low/ right toggle switch. It's a dual headlight so I can probably one run 1 light which is ok for now. It looks cool.
