OK, here's what I have. First, I spend a lot of time doing r&d on my Gassers. I have been on them since 2001 and owned many different ones. So I have a vast knowledge of what works and does not. So what I am saying is that I do not half ass things. So this Honda plate fits, in my opinion, awsome, and looks good 2. Just takes a little R&D. So bear with me in my # plate explantion:
NOTE: I did not use the new plastic front fender mount. I drilled 2 new holes and mounted the fender with 4 bolts to the bottom of the triple tree.
I took the old # plate mount (the aluminum bottom one with the 2 rubber grommets) and installed it upside down ( you will need to cut the rubber grommets out and shape it to fit right). The 2 mounting holes on the triple clamp match up, but you will need to drill 2 new holes for the # plate. So line up the Honda Plate where you want it and drill the holes in the mount. You will need to cut a little of the Honda plate at the bottom on the back. It is very thin and can be cut with a razor knife. Then I installed 2 long bolts up through the new holes and secured them with lock nuts. These bolts will be used to hold the bottom of the Honda plate on. (You will see what I mean when in the process).
At the top of the # plate. I used a piece of L shaped aluminum. One side will mount to the triple tree and the other will act as the # plate mount. Make sure the L shape is pointing out at the top of the triple tree not the bottom. You will need to drill a hole and attach the L shaped bracket to the top triple tree using the mounting hole in the center of the triple tree. You may need to trim and shave some of the bracket so it fits the way you like. Then, line the Honda plate up with the L bracket so it is straight and level. Mark 2 holes on the bracket for the top # plate mounts and drill them out. I then attached a speed clip over each hole. I used stock shroud bolts and washers throung the top mounts into the speed clips and badda bing badda boom!! While I am taking photos of my bike with the decals tonight, I will shoot a few of my 2 mount I made.
Hope this helps some! But I took my time and came away with a nice fit and nice look and it seems to be the only real option.
