Graphic Design

I also got a background made for a 2011 crf 450 numberplate. I just have to get the number plate and figure out how to mount it.

OK, here's what I have. First, I spend a lot of time doing r&d on my Gassers. I have been on them since 2001 and owned many different ones. So I have a vast knowledge of what works and does not. So what I am saying is that I do not half ass things. So this Honda plate fits, in my opinion, awsome, and looks good 2. Just takes a little R&D. So bear with me in my # plate explantion:

NOTE: I did not use the new plastic front fender mount. I drilled 2 new holes and mounted the fender with 4 bolts to the bottom of the triple tree.

I took the old # plate mount (the aluminum bottom one with the 2 rubber grommets) and installed it upside down ( you will need to cut the rubber grommets out and shape it to fit right). The 2 mounting holes on the triple clamp match up, but you will need to drill 2 new holes for the # plate. So line up the Honda Plate where you want it and drill the holes in the mount. You will need to cut a little of the Honda plate at the bottom on the back. It is very thin and can be cut with a razor knife. Then I installed 2 long bolts up through the new holes and secured them with lock nuts. These bolts will be used to hold the bottom of the Honda plate on. (You will see what I mean when in the process).

At the top of the # plate. I used a piece of L shaped aluminum. One side will mount to the triple tree and the other will act as the # plate mount. Make sure the L shape is pointing out at the top of the triple tree not the bottom. You will need to drill a hole and attach the L shaped bracket to the top triple tree using the mounting hole in the center of the triple tree. You may need to trim and shave some of the bracket so it fits the way you like. Then, line the Honda plate up with the L bracket so it is straight and level. Mark 2 holes on the bracket for the top # plate mounts and drill them out. I then attached a speed clip over each hole. I used stock shroud bolts and washers throung the top mounts into the speed clips and badda bing badda boom!! While I am taking photos of my bike with the decals tonight, I will shoot a few of my 2 mount I made.

Hope this helps some! But I took my time and came away with a nice fit and nice look and it seems to be the only real option.

I would love to see your pics. I have not gotten the Honda # plate yet. I wish someone made a #plate that attched to the fork tubes with rubber straps like the headlight.

Awesome and I await your pics. Thanks for taking the time to post this up. Clay......can you ask GasGas to make and send us some numberplates for the 2010 and now 2011 bikes please?

Here are some photos of my 2010 250F with my new decals!!

Looks very good Daniel! Thanks for the pics and info on the number plate installation. Hey you beat GasGas to the punch on this one.

Yep, sure did! I still think that Gas Gas can and will come up with an exact fit for the 2011's. (hopefully) Funny thing is, I also beat FMF on an exhaust before they made an official Gas Gas 250F exhaust and Clarke/IMS on an oversized tank for the 250F.

I was going to ask you about the gas tank! is it a one off? any pictures of it with the shrouds off?

Funny, your front fender is different than the two strokes. I do not have the two holes for pins on mine. It just has one large hole in the center with a rubber grommet.

If GasGas just offered a plate with a large pin on the bottom like the headlight and a hole to attach to the triple at the top it would be perfect.

Jeffs2200, my fender is a 2011 front fender. The holes you see are the holes used to mount the fender to the plastic insert that the headlight sits in. If you remove the plastic piece the headlight sits in, and the 2 front, front fender bolts you will see those holes.

Todd5774, the tank is an FSE450 tank from Clarke without the fuel pump hole drilled out and a special billet insert in the tank (made by Fast by Tobe) that allows me to mount petcock. The shrouds fit 90%. Had to trim them at the top a little, but no big deal. The tank looks huge but is not at all noticeable when riding!

Thought I would share my number plate backgrounds and wheel saver decals from PG with ya.

Bright yellow numbers to go with the Ohlins shock and other yellow I've added should look pretty good on the bike.
