Hard Enduro

Any insight into why Gas Gas has not acquired a rider for hard enduro races? I would love to see a Gas Gas backed rider in one of the premier hard enduros.

Too expensive maybe ? I heard rumors that there were talks with Mario when he left husky, but they didn't got to an agreement ... just a rumor tough.

I would imagine its not only cost, but product positioning as well. GasGas has a smaller budget I'm sure, and the influx of money from Torrot is finite. They need to produce and sell a quality bike. And they need to make sure this is being done and a profit is made. Also there is a lot of money I'm sure going into R&D. Euro 4 & 5 emissions are coming into play.

They need to figure out where the bang for the buck is. The cost of flying around a rider, bike, mechanics etc has to be astronomical.

I've wondered this as well.

The RedBull Hard Enduro series really seems to be out on its own.

It does not appear to fall under any regulatory body. FIM seems to have no say in it.

The "top riders" are top riders in the series but aren't really a part of any other major series. Even the races are rarely part of a national or local schedule.

Without a governing body it is understandable that smaller companies would focus efforts elsewhere. I'm sure lots of riders watch it. But tons of riders also follow their national series races and ISDE events.

Most local and national races are Enduro or CrossCountry and so it makes sense for GasGas to be focusing efforts there.

Still, I'd love to see a factory GG rider at the RedBull Hard Enduro races.
GasGas still holds the 2nd most wins at Erzberg!

I'd love to see this too.

Was recently browsing the Redbull channel and watched the recap of Erzberg this year. They interviewed a GG rider, though I don't remember the name. He was in full GG gear and definitely appeared to be of the factory sort. Not saying he was; could have been regional support or strong support from a local dealership.

Regardless, cool to see someone with full GG regalia interviewed as part of the Erzberg recap. Haven't checked YT, but imagine it's posted there. If you have the Redbull TV app/channel, check it out - sweet recap of the race :D:cool:

Factory Spain has a young extreme/endurocross rider they support named Joan Pau Segura Verdaguer. I think most call him Joan Segura. He is flying over to take part in the TKO next month, as well as try his skills at the first Endurocross in Las Vegas the next weekend! I have met him, really nice guy. You can follow him on Instagram. "segura80"

We will be supporting Noah Kepple at TKO as well as he continues to gain strength in the extreme events before he starts competing in the Endurocross series along with Geoff Aaron! Follow Noah on Instagram "noahkepple" and Geoff "geoffaaron"

Also, we have the multi talented, crazy man Phil Smage that does all sorts of classes, video's, and nutty extreme events on his GasGas trials bike and GasGas Enduro bike! He has a HUGE following and is always entertaining! Along with his goats! Ha! Instagram "smagical" His posts get over 5000 views usually!

Mark,

Great! Glad to hear there will be a Gas Gas presence at the TKO. Looking forward to following Joan and Noah's progress. Noah looks like an amazing prospect for Endurocross and it seems that most of the riders in that series typically participate in the hard enduros to some degree.

Doug Lampkin raced for GasGas on Erzberg some years ago...

And he would have been on the podium if the bike didn't suck water. He made an amazing comeback. GasGas can win anything with the right pilot.
