I have a 2006 Gasgas EC 300, that from what I can tell, should have come from the factory with a headlight. It has since been tossed before I got it, but would like to know what the plugs look like. Behind my number plate are 2 sets of wires, and from what I can tell, neither has power to them. One set I am pretty sure used to be the ignition map switch for sunny and rainy days, but I only want rainy setting anyway. If you could post a picture of your plugs, that would be great.

My 2000 headlight has three prongs that were all in line, which can be connected with just plain old female spades connectors.

I certainly don't have the H4 style connector. Behind my number plate I have 2 standard female spades, and two plastic connectors, and I don't remember if they are spade or not. 4 wires total. I didn't realize the stator was for AC power. I just assumed it was DC because it was wired for all kinds of lights and things. My guess is I can figure it out now. I am almost certain the two female spade connectors were for my CDI sunny/rainy switch.
Incandescent bulbs aren't really particular about which direction the current flows through them. Keep in mind your house likely has several, and they're all running on alternating current.
LEDs are a different story, but will work on AC. They just flash rapidly (fast enough that I can't see it). Probably hurting their lifespan quite a bit in the process.
I'd like to see your headlight connector.. I don't think I have my old one to compare and my bike didn't have any kind of plug.

These violets should be coming directly off the handlebar switch and one should run clear to the rear of the bike for the running light/brakelight.
Solid yellow should be putting out 12-14vac (or more, if your regulator is fried).
Yellow/green is your earth.
