Help,I have never done anything with the timing on a gg 300.
Prepare for stupid questions.....
I am assuming I need the flywheel off but do not understand how I line or what I have to line up?
I have a dial gauge and can find TDC but cannot find anything to line up.
Please help.....
Mark:confused:

I have the flywheel off and can see the elongated washer on the top right hand screw.
Obviously this is set as standard from the factory.
My Question is....
How do i find marks to locate or make reference to with flywheel and stator?
I have a dial guage and can find Tdc but where do I go from here????
help?
Cheers Mark

Its gets way complicated and you really need precision instruments to get it 100% correct, field collaspe and stuff.Mark the case and the stator plate adjacuent to each other. This is your new referance to the factory setting.Remove the stator plate and using a rat tail file elongate the mounting holes. Re-assemble without the metal locating insert, now turn the stator about 2 mm opposite the direction of the running engine rotation, mark the stator relative the mark you made on the case, this is your advanced setting.Use good gas and pay attention to any pinging. You should have no problems as this is a conservitive adjustment.

Thanks mate,
I ended up leaving it for now as I had to get the bike back together but I will do as you say the next time I have the cover off.
I have just purchased a bottle of Motul 800 and have put a 50:1 mix in the bike.
I am worried but I guess I shouldn't be as you guys all run the same and my jetting is actually richer than yours. My only diff from standard is an Fmf pc2 muffler.
Cheers
Mark
