Hot start problem???

Hey guys, I have a little bit of a problem at the moment.

My '03 EC200's been running awesome, but just over the last 2 or 3 rides, it will not kickstart once the engine is warm. I can pushstart it though

The first two times this happened, the air temperatures were around the 29-32 degrees celcius mark. So I thought maybe it was just because of jetting not quite right, but it happened again this weekend, and it was around the 16 degrees celcius mark, in areas where this was never a problem.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to the cause of this problem? I am going to check float levels and carby settings this weekend, its strange as this problem came on extremely quickly.

Thanks guys.

Check the reeds, ignition coil, and CDI in addition to the carb. If the bike starts good cold, heat the coil and CDI with a hair dryer and then try it, if the reeds and carb check out OK.

No worries, thanks GMP. Ill give that a crack, what should I check in the carb? Float level? It went off to quick to be the actual jetting I reckon.

Thanks again

Float level, leaking float valve, loose brass. If its a fuel problem, it seems like a too rich fuel problem, as it starts good cold. Think about things that could cause a rich condition.

Great suggestions! I find that canned freeze spray can work wonders for troubleshooting. Get the bike hot and hit each item individually with the freeze spray. If everything else listed is OK, then I would place money on the stator. Canned air turned upside down will act as a freeze spray.

Thanks guys, not riding this weekend and have a whole heap of spare time on my hands, so I'll pull the craby apart and have a look.

Thanks again guys, you're all being really helpful
