Imported 2010 EC 250

Morning guys,
I have just imported a 2010 EC 250 from Italy to the UK and was wondering how I go about registering it here, for road use? I have previously brought classic and vintage bikes back and registered them with no issues, however I am wondering if this bike, as it is not classed as historic, will be more problematic, not least because all of the DVLA local offices have now gone. Do I need a certificate of conformity, or just something that proves the age? Presume it doesn't need an MSVA, as I believe enduros are exempt?
I'm based in London. New o the forum, so any advice on the above would be appreciated and if anyone knows where I can go riding it off-road around the Enfield/Hertfordshire area, it would be appreciated.
Many thanks

You'll need a dating letter which you should be able to get from GGUK (http://www.gasgasuk.com/), they'll charge you ?18 for it, then fill out DVLA forms. It may still need to be checked by DVLA for chassis/engine numbers.

Dating letter from GGUK + DVLA form V55 / 5 (make sure you tick the trials and enduro scheme box) + MOT + insurance on chassis number + cheque for 1 year's road tax and registration fee + two forms of i.d.

They do occasionaly require you to bring the bike to a DVLA office to be inspected. For the trials and enduro scheme it's a simple inspection where they will want to measure the ground clearance of the bike as a way of categorising the bike as an enduro.

Get in contact with your local TRF Group for trail riding and check http://www.enduronews.com/ for practice days and enduros

Wow, thats a lot of paperwork! Where I live, if my weed whacker had wheels I could probably get it road legal no questions asked.

Evening all and I almost cringe to ask this question, as it makes me sound like a total knob, which I am, but where can I find the engine number on the EC250? Just finalising the V55/5 and the engine number is apparently a requirement. I've spent the last 25 minutes crawling around, in restricted space, on a garage floor, with a maglite trying to figure out wtf I am supposed to be looking for and thus far, all I have come up with, is the following:55XC00249CM3.
As aforementioned, I am a bellend, of the highest order (rider and not mechanic) so even I know that the 249x3 is the CC, but is the other bit the engine number? Looks unlikely to me.
many thanks

It is near the gear lever, frame no is on the steering neck I think
Awesome. I have the frame number already, as it's on the Italian paperwork, but the engine isn't. Also, on the V55/5 if anyone knows, where does it allow you to tick the trials/enduro box, as I can't find that either???? Should have gone to Specsavers :) ta

ok, I have found a number, which is on the casing next to the gear lever, but it looks more like a part number, than an engine one. It's 5UM10Y-1, which seems way too short. Any ideas?
cheers
