Interesting about Dakar and 2018, is he saying they might think about it after then? Lot of R&D between now and then since they are no longer using the Yamaha motors.

I'm also hoping something has been lost in translation.

It appears they don't want to reinvent the wheel here, and work to refine the product overall, but they also make reference to 4T and hybrid models.

Although they haven't addressed the 2T market, you would assume they have the smarts to identify that this is GG's hot ticket. They are what sells, and where the company was having the little success it did. If they choose to drop it, then so be it.. but I wouldn't be buying an X-Lite/Hybrid to replace a trusty banger... and suspect most here would share similar opinions.

There will be 125,250,300 2t models.

He mentions that the RD for the 4 stroke will continue but he seems to imply it is on the back burner and that they know that 4t development got GasGas into trouble before.

Hopefully, it's simply an oversight as I really dig my little 200 smoker. I'm sure moving to a 250 wouldn't be an issue, but I like the mountain bike with a motor feel of my bike :o

Once again...that's old information you are reading. During the time of that interview, the fate of the 200 had not been decided. Since then, we have stressed the importance of bringing in the 200 and it is now part of the production plan. If anything changes, it will be brought up in discussion when we meet with upper management later this month.

They should go back to the 2011 model and update the suspension and install brembo brakes. Fix some of the rubbing problems so the plastic stops rubbing the subframe and that would be a great 2016 model. Then make it lighter for 2017.
 
Yes! I love my EC200 very much. It is like riding a mountain bike with a motor.

But, I'm currently in the market for a new 250 or 300 though and with this rough weather in GasGas Town, I may go Orange.

A word of advise from someone who rode that OB 200 from 99 till 2009...Be sure to buy a dampener with it...your going to need it unless you like pin balling off every rock and root in the trail.

They should go back to the 2011 model and update the suspension and install brembo brakes. Fix some of the rubbing problems so the plastic stops rubbing the subframe and that would be a great 2016 model. Then make it lighter for 2017.

I respectfully don't agree with most of your points, as the 2012-up chassis is much more neutral than the previous chassis and less busy in the front end, along with better ergos. Also Nissin brakes are a common fix for well documented Brembo brake problems. My two previous bikes both had Brembo brakes & I'll take the Nissins on my 2012 over those Brembos any day. The suspension is definitely better on the 2012-up bikes, hands down. Most of the older chassis had those crap 45shiver Marzocchis, which are well known as one of the worst forks in the modern era. The 48pfp on the newer bikes is a way better fork IMO.
The bikes have been getting lighter every year since 2012, with the '15s being about 10-12 lbs (or more) lighter than the 2012s. They could still stand to lose a bit more weight, but it's not a deal breaker for me, as the weight can be an advantage sometimes.
