Is it worth it?

Hey everyone first off I am new here. I have been wanting a GG for a long time but they are next to impossible to find in my neck of the woods (Sou. Indiana). Any way I have been riding for years. I am currently riding a 95 CR250 that I have had since I bought it new in '97. I have to completly tear it down and rebuild it twice now, so to say I have gotten my money out of it is an understatement.

Anyway I finally came across a GG 250 EC. It is either a 99 or 00 from what I can tell (he says 99 but, it has the look of a 00) It needs fork seals, he said something is broken on the clutch master cylinder, and it needs a rear fender, he doesnt seem to know anything about the bike at all as far as the motor, so I am assuming it needs to be freshened up. He is asking $900. What do you think? I do race harescrambles (VetC and sometimes VetB) other than that I just woods ride ALOT!

Personnally, I would look online for a 2005 or newer. By the time you freshen up a 2000 you will be into the price of a better newer bike. An 05 or newer would be a big upgrade over the 99-00 model. Or at least one with inverted forks.

I agree you should be able to do better. If you're patient you'll see 2001-2004 gassers in very good shape for 12-$1500 and 05s and 06s for less than $2000.

$900 doesn't sound too bad. worst case use it for parts. It looks to be a 2000. I would buy it if it was in my neck of the woods. I just bought a 1999 200 off craiglist that is next to new besideds being flipped.

Just me, but I wouldn't ditch that CR for anything newer than 07, and it would need to be a nice one! I had one for several years (mine was a 92, but same from 92-96 last of the steel frames) and would rate it as my
2nd favourite all time bike, behind my current GG (of course). Those CRs will go anywhere and are suprisingly nimble in the woods...a little bit whiney and vibratey but...Ahhh yes, those were the days.....

If you are not interested I wouldn't mind a crack at it. I would try to get it for less because of my drive time and fuel.
