Firstly thanks to all who helped me with advice in my previous thread, the bike is now back together and is running rather sweet on a zero hour piston... That is until I ride it

What d'you guys think.... It sure as hell ain't the chain..lol

Sounds very similar to the noise ive been getting, richening the jetting has taken the noise away.

When mine was doing it as loud as that it was scuffing the bore, pull the pipe off and check it's not doing the same to yours

Hopefully it is the pv having a good rattle, have you looked at the pv rod, sometimes they rattle on the cylinder, just a case of tweaking it so it sits clear

Thanks...Actually the rod was extremely close (maybe even touching)

It did it before the new piston but not this loud, cylinder bore is fine for now

Why isn't it the chain? What have you done to rule it out?

What happens if you pull the clutch when it's doing this? Does it stop right away? What happens if you click up/down a gear? Do you have a bash plate on the bike?

Yep, sounds like chain slap. If your engine sounds that bad you won't be riding far. btw your riding on the wrong side of the road.:D

Eliminate chainslap as the cause first, retension or try dragging rear brake at the same time as it starts to rattle.
Could be the powervalve arm as you have had the topend off.remove header pipe, remove rhs pv cover, refit pipe and start engine.bring revs up to problem area and watch the arm closely..

Well I feel really stupid! I was 100% sure the wasn't the chain, however I completely forgot I went down a tooth on the front while the bike was in bits ... I'll get my coat

O rings are brand new.. As per my previous post it turned out to be the chain after all, I hadn't taken up the slack after going a tooth smaller on the front sprocket.. I'm glad it's sorted anyway

See how nicely I worded my post not to accuse you of anything. Haahaha! Good easy outcome!
