The day has finally arrrived! New Zealand trails are about to be ridden by 600 riders twice a day for 5 days (last day is just motocross special test).

So far weather has teased us with one day of sunshine and no wind....today looks like scattered showers between the sun. The mood has been very relaxed and alot of free time compared to other years it appears. Bungy jumping and jet boat rides between walking special tests for most of the riders. Beautiful place with so much to do, but that's over now, time to concentrate on our boys and girls out riding. They are on a relaxed "B" schedule the first two days. If you want any updates on a particular rider let us know, 40 riders makes it hard to keep tabs and tidbits on all, but we'll try.

5 GasGas's on US Team including Fred Hoess and Eric Bailey (gofasters.com sponsored rider) on the trophy team. Lacey on the women's team. Derek Steahly on a GasGas bike for a future article in dirt rider. Daniel Janus from Hall's Husky/GasGas is on our club team with Pat Garrahan and Brian Sperle.

Junior Trophy team has worked together quite well and are hoping for good results. As is the ISDE seasoned Trophy team. Well, gotta get out there, 10 minutes before first rider leaves for the day at 7 am!

GO USA!

I hope Cole Kirkpatrick does well! He is a great guy or kid if you will and spanks the crap out of us here in the Texas Enduro Circut.

Bad side is that he rides a KTM.

team Finland

seems that we have a weak team in Finland.

Mika Ahola
Samuli Aro
Jari Mattila
Petri Pohjamo
Juha Salminen
Marko Tarkkala

:D

Thanks for the updates.

ISDE Day two!

Day two in the books and Kurt Caselli is FLYING! This is very exciting here and the US pits are all abuzz! Not sure if he's in second or first but at this point who cares? As he's in the running! Rest of the junior team doing quite well today as well in the mud after a quarter inch of rain through the nite.

This rain didn't help many club riders however as many finally ran into problems. John Bennet had stator problems and has lost some route points as well being possibly suspended for recieving outside assistance. Nicole Bradford ripped off a radiator and lost some route points but got her bike back together. Lacey Jones had some trouble in the mud and has houred out by ONLY 5 seconds! Mandy Mastin still going strong!

Luke McNiel, Brandon Johnson, David Kamo, Steve Levian, Cole Kirpatrick all running strong. As is the GoFasters guys of Brian Sperle, Pat Garrahan and Daniel Janus!

Dylan Debel small rear brake problem no dropped points, Rory Sullivan going good.....that's all I can think of right now....we'll keep you posted.

Thanks Mark & Steve for the ISDE coverage. I appreciate all of the photos that you guys are putting in the GoFasters Photo Gallery. Keep them coming!

Day 5! Rain, Rain, Rain!

Day five started out with light showers and turned to heavy rain causing the course to disintigrate and leaving every rider for themselves to get back to the par ferme early. After check 3 things got ugly as the rain continued to get heavier! The officials eventually cut it off and sent riders back early for impound. It made the paddock a very exciting place as the riders came in out of order and on different minutes but the USA support handled it quite well. As of right now, they are not sure if they will keep the first two tests but the last tests will not count. Many, many cold riders but all in all spirits are still high!

No new rider have houred out, in fact Mandy Mastin got her's back when the dropped a check from yesterday!

Jon Seehorn had his rekluse clutch go out and had to replace in the paddock, that is not an easy task but all handled it quite well.

Most of the club riders just fueled up and checked in early wanting to get out of the rain. We'll see if it quits raining to allow the day 6 moto test.....keep your fingers crossed.

This is a report from Cole Kirkpatrick #485.

Day five is done and all I can say is that it was great! I made it through the first two tests clean and the traction was great. In the second test, through the trees, it started to mist. I knew that it would be tight to the next time control because of all of the ruts and hillclimbs (today was the same route as yesterday). The mist turned into rain and then the goggles were useless. I had a great trail pace going and felt certain that I would make it to check 3 on time, wrong. As I was racing up a narrow fireroad, a pack of riders, led by Giovanni Sala motioned me to 180 and follow them. Jeff Fredette was also in the pack as well as Luke McNeil (my TRH partner) so I felt that turning around would be the right thing to do. So we backtracked several kilometers, picking up riders as we went until we reached a split in the road. At that point there were probably about thirty riders in the pack. I then found out that Sala had said that the section of trail that we had decided not to ride was "impossible." When Sala says its impossible, I believed him. He told us to wait and thats what we did. Thinking that if enough of us skipped the section then it would be thrown out. We sat for over an hour in the woods while the rain dumped on us. Then, once all the riders from about number 420 to 600 all were together, we then followed day 1 markings to get to check three. When we got there we discovered that the day had been cancelled. I am not sure if the first two tests will be counted. However, this is one time that I was thankful to be at the back of the pack. The trophy and junior trophy teams almost all rode the entire course. Most of them lost route points and lots of energy along the way. The pack of riders I was with just had to ride 50 km of highway in the rain. Tomorrow is the easy day and everyone has said that what ever medal pace you are on going into the moto you will most likely keep. I just have to ride clean and safe and the race will be finished. I will post again after the final moto and hopefully I will have official word on what medal I will be receiving. Right now we are pretty sure that it will be gold! This has been an unbeliveable week and I am amazed at how many views this post has received. When I am out there racing, it is great to know that all of these people back home are cheering for me! Thanks for all of the prayers and support this week, it means so much to me!
See yall back in Texas soon!!!

Cole's last report!:D

This amazing week has finally come to an end. I am almost positive that I finished on gold and I am stoked! We have hours of video and lots of pictures so keep checking kirkpatrickracing.com for a short video. I will try to get it up by next weekend. I am planning on making a longer video for the banquet if there is time. Thanks again for all of the support! It has been a long tough week and it sure lifts my spirits when I come on the forum and see what everyone is thinking. Thanks everyone!

The final moto was great! The course was very safe with some huge tabletops. There were 14 motos. The first four were E1, starting with the slowest riders first. Followed by E2, I was in the fourth moto in that group. Then E3, and finally the fastest 40 in E1, E2, and E3 all did a moto. We had one sight lap and then it was time to go racing. I was able to hit all the jumps on the first lap but I had a terrible start. I believe I was around 15th or so. I rode smart and was able to make it up to 4th place behind David Kamo in the 5 lap moto. Kamo was a crowd favorite because not only did he do one heelclicker, but two over the tracks biggest tabletop. I have it on video and will post it when I am home. If Cameron's calculations are correct, David made gold by one second! I sure hope he did becuase that was his goal this year. David and Luke are both great guys and riders. Luke was forced to ride a WR 450 rather than his usual YZ 125. Yamaha messed up the paperwork but his results will make you think that he has been riding thumpers his whole life. Team TRH ended up 4th in the club teams out of 131 teams!
See everyone when I get back, I have a lot of sleep to catch up on (so does dad)!
