Six Days is starting this weekend. Wish them Luck. I have two friends sons riding on the Jr. Trophy team this year.

Unfortunately there is no official Great Britain team representation this year due to zero motorcycle sport support from the UK government. Most UK riders are at best semi professional and can't self fund to travel as far as Chile.

The ISDE started in England over 100 years ago and I doubt that it will ever be held here again.

I don't think there are any Norwegians there at all. There are teams from Sweden and Finland, but not from Norway. I think the reason is cost. The Norwegian team has performed well (top ten) the last couple of years, but cannot afford the travel expenses to the other side of the world, I presume.

If the ISDE were part of the Olympic games, the UK government would throw millions of pounds into the sport.

We have had many world champions but the public have never heard of them. Compare David Knight, Graham Jarvis, Billy Bolt or Paul Edmondson to the multi-millionaire prima donnas Lewis Hamilton and Mr Happy (Andy Murray).

Talked to a friend from South Africa yesterday about no team, he thinks the cost is the reason why. Says if it cost 25K for US riders to go, the exchange rate there is 14-1 which is outragous.

Maybe some riders could try crowd funding (like gofundme.com) to make it to the ISDE. I know for some US riders this is the only way they can afford it.

I have a friend at ISDE this year and, that’s exactly how he paid for his trip. He did two benefit rides, sold t-shirts, and used GoFundMe. In the end he was able to raise the $30,000 needed to make the trip.
